‘Imam Ali (AS)’ star turns 73 today

Famed Iranian actor Arjmand starring in popular ifilm series ‘Imam Ali (AS)’ has turned 73 on July 27, 2018.

Famed Iranian actor Daryoush Arjmand starring in popular ifilm series ‘Imam Ali (AS)’ has turned 73 on July 27, 2018.

The veteran actor who played the role of Malik al-Ashtar in the hit series will blow out his birthday candles Friday.

Malik al-Ashtar was one of the most loyal companions of Imam Ali (AS) who was martyred in a war enemies waged against the first Muslim Imam.

Arjmand has a bachelor’s degree in History and Sociology from the University of Mashhad in Iran, and a master’s degree in Theater and Cinema, earning in Paris, France.

For his performance in Naser Taqvaee’s ‘Captain Khorshid’ in 1986, he received a Crystal Simorgh from the Fajr International Film Festival.

He also received a Crystal Simorgh for Best Male Actor in a Supporting Role for ‘Killing Dogs’ (2000).

Arjmand has performed in many movies, including ‘Snow Man’ (1994), ‘The Visitor of Rey’ (2000), ‘Marriage, Iranian Style’ (2004), ‘Rules of the Game’ (2006), ‘The Boss’ (2006), ‘Hot Chocolate’ (2009), ‘Maritime Silk Road’  (2010), ‘Report of a Ceremony’ (2010), ‘Without Permission’ (2010), ‘Dissertation’ (2011), ‘Here is another City’ (2011) and ‘Attachment’ (2013).

He has also appeared in the series ‘Imam Ali (AS)’ (1991), ‘The Days of Life’ (1998-1999), ‘The Grey Land’ (2001), ‘Empty Frames’ (2006-2007) ‘A Piece of Land’ (2012), ‘Hidden Secret’ (2012), ‘Setayesh 1 and 2’ (2011-2013), ‘The King’s Secret’ (2011-2014) and ‘Misunderstanding of a Dream’ (2015).
